About

My name is Maina Vaidya, and I'm a high school student in Washington, D.C. ​The idea for begins with us started during the pandemic. Like a lot of us, I remember sitting at home watching the news and feeling uncertain about the changing world. I remember watching numerous stories on school shootings, racial discrimination, military efforts, hate crimes, and more. Throughout, the stories that interested me the most were about women movements and empowerment.

 

What I hope to do here is create a sense of community where stories, specifically about women (and other topics of interest), are shared and made more widespread. Living in D.C., I've noticed that main stream media focuses on the big picture stories and angry politicians who are incapable of reaching an agreement. What is overlooked are the stories of brave women and communities fighting to have their voices heard from the U.S. to Iran to India to Ukraine.

 

The blogs I've written will hopefully shine a spotlight on the less reported stories while also helping to keep girls everywhere aware.
